Pulling it all together
I chose the name ‘Old Fashioned @ Heart’ because I really love and appreciate the old fashioned way of doing things. I also am not averse to technology to improve upon those old fashioned methods once in a while.
That being said…I began turning my crafting hobby into a side-hustle in 2017 and am just now attempting to bring it online. Putting up a booth at a few craft shows a year and posting to social media once in a while is far different from developing a website, getting good pictures of your product, managing an online inventory and arranging to take payments and ship…blah, blah, blah. So, I’m not ashamed to say, I’ve been a bit intimidated and seeing as this is still just a side-hustle for me, the amount of time involved was a valid excuse to hold off on pulling the trigger.
It hasn’t been easy either. Though I hooked myself up with a site that offers management and templates, and is supposed to make things easy…it’s been challenging and time consuming, as suspected. I wanted to sell my bath and body products and all of my other quirky, unique handmade items — but for now, I’m just going to try selling my bath and body products (they’re more popular anyway). I also wanted to blog — because my husband and I are ‘weekend warriors’ of the DIY kind and we really enjoy improving our home ourselves using our own talent, and experience. I wanted to bring my friends along for some online chatting, recipes, craft projects, advice, you name it.
Merging all the things I wanted to bring along to a website has proven a bit tricky. Like my personality…the failure to stick to one lane doesn’t always sit well with others…and definitely not with the ‘experts’ that tell you to stick to one thing.
